The first round at the D + D Real Czech Masters 2022 in Prague has just ended. In the Czech capital to take the lead is the South African Louis De Jager, with a lap in -8 and also bogey free. He manages, in this way, to precede the favorite of the eve, the Belgian Thomas Pieters, who arrives at 65 shots and has to complain for a couple of bogeys in the face of nine birdies.

Czech Masters, results

The 2021 winner, the American Johannes Veerman, is third along with compatriot Jordan Gumberg, German Marcel Schneider and Finnish Tapio Pulkkanen. For all scores of -6, only Veerman runs into a bogey and Schneider is also able to place an eagle on hole 12 (which, due to a double start, is 3 in his case).

Good news from Italy, or rather from Renato Paratore, who finishes in 7th place after these first 18 holes. To him you are birdie and a bogey. He is accompanied by Frenchman Antoine Rozner, Chilean Hugo Leon, Spaniard Angel Hidalgo, Malaysian Gavin Green, Australian Jake McLeod, Scotsman Grant Forrest and English Richard Mansell.

Nino Bertasio also did well, taking 28th place at -3 with an eagle, four birdies and three bogeys. Andrea Pavan also does the same with good ease: -2 and 38th place. The only discordant note is that of Lorenzo Gagli, 113 ° at +3, a situation that is the result above all of the triple bogey at 3.

Thomas Pieters, born January 27, 1992, is a Belgian professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. At 22 and in his first season as a professional, he came very close to victory at the Spanish Open where he was beaten in the play-off by Spanish favorite Miguel Angel Jiménez.

He won his first victory on the PGA European Tour in 2015 at the Czech Republic Masters. After a one-week hiatus, he took part in the Dutch Open, which he won with a lead. He thus becomes the first Belgian player to win two European Tour tournaments in the same season.
