Chelsea are preparing to travel up north to face Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday, but there is plenty more happening behind the scenes at the club.
The Blues will perhaps be hoping for a quieter match at Elland Road after the chaotic and feisty end to their 2-2 draw against Tottenham last weekend, from which the fallout continues. Thomas Tuchel was sent off following a heated confrontation with Antonio Conte and the Chelsea manager has now learned his fate.
Meanwhile, the summer transfer window is heating up, with just 12 days remaining until the deadline. As such things are beginning to speed up, with updates aplenty after a busy few days for Todd Boehly. Here Mirror Football brings you all the latest from the club.
Blues make Maguire enquiry
Harry Maguire has been struggling recently for Manchester United and the doubt surrounding his place in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up has reportedly prompted Chelsea to make a transfer enquiry.
The Blues are already in negotiations with United over the possible departure of Christian Pulisic and have asked about Maguire in a potential swap deal. Tuchel is desperate for defensive reinforcements and, although Wesley Fofana is the priority, it seems Chelsea are keeping their options open.
Leicester have rejected two bids in the region of £60million for Fofana, and, with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, United could be tempted to offload their captain.

Tuchel hit with FA fine

Thomas Tuchel has been fined £35,000 and handed a suspended one-game ban for his part in the scrap with Antonio Conte, as well as comments about Anthony Taylor, last weekend.
Tuchel got involved in a tense pushing and shoving match with Conte over the post-match handshakes before suggesting that “maybe it would be better” if Taylor never refereed his side again. Conte has been fined £15,000.
Both managers admitted improper behaviour and Tuchel will still be allowed on the touchline for the Leeds game.

Lampard won’t rule out Gordon exit

Everton manager Frank Lampard refused to give assurances to the club’s fans that Anthony Gordon will remain with the club once the transfer window closes.
The Toffees have so far rejected a £45million bid from Chelsea for the England under-21 winger. “Selling players, just as it is with bringing players in, it has to be a joined up say so,” Lampard said on Friday.
“When you’re talking about the level of player Anthony is and the value of player, we know what those kind of players go for.
“It’s a serious situation on a football and a club business level, simple as that. If you can join those two up and make the right decision… the football one is the most important to me, because that is what I’m judged on. But we know his value, and that he’ll be here at the end of the window – who knows. I don’t want to get into hypotheticals.”
