What channel is Everton vs Chelsea? Kick-off time, TV and live stream details

Chelsea’s Premier League title charge lasted half the season in 2021/22 before it fizzled out with a whimper, but now they will look to amend that this campaign by getting off to the perfect start against Everton on Saturday evening.

The Blues are beginning their first season under Todd Boehly’s ownership following his consortium’s takeover at the end of the previous campaign, and despite a mixed bag of results in pre-season, some positive signings have arrived.

But standing in their way of three points is Everton, who survived by the skin of their teeth last season and will be desperate to avoid another relegation battle this time around, although they have endured a frustrating transfer window.

When is Everton vs Chelsea?

Everton vs Chelsea will kick-off at 5:30pm on Saturday, August 6 at Goodison Park.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in May, when Everton recorded a huge 1-0 victory over the Blues on home soil to heavily boost their Premier League survival chances.

Following a goalless first half on Merseyside, Brazilian forward Richarlison popped up with the opening goal of the game just two minutes after the restart, and it proved to be the winner as Chelsea failed to break down their hosts and find a way back into the game.

Team news

Frank Lampard will be desperate to get off to the perfect start against his former club in Everton’s season opener at Goodison Park on Saturday, although the Chelsea legend has a number of injury concerns to deal with ahead of this tie that will impact his team selection.

Yerry Mina is expected to recover from a knock and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic (ankle) will face a late fitness test, but Tom Davies, Andre Gomes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (knee) and Andros Townsend (knee) are all ruled out. Former Burnley duo James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil should make their competitive debuts, while Ruben Vinagre will also hope to feature.

As for Thomas Tuchel, he has missed out on plenty of top transfer targets this summer and lost the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen following the expiry of their contracts, but a positive is that he will almost be operating with a fully fit squad for this tie.

Ross Barkley (thigh) and Armando Broja (ankle) should make full recoveries in order to feature in the matchday squad, but Timo Werner (thigh) is a doubt and could be left out anyway as he edges closer to an exit from the club. Summer signings Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly will look to start, while Carney Chukwuemeka may feature off the bench.
