90min understands that Leicester City have left the decision regarding the player’s future up to Schmeichel himself, as the club are happy for him to leave with just one year remaining on his current contract.

The move to Nice will be the first time Schmeichel has played outside of England since 2007, when he was on loan at Scottish side Falkirk.

The goalkeeper has spent time at Manchester City, Darlington, Bury, Cardiff City, Coventry City, Notts County, Leeds United and Leicester during his long career in England.
