Agnieszka Radwanska and Iga Swiatek clashed in an exhibition match and the Polish tennis legend claimed a win over the current world No. 1. Radwanska, who retired from tennis in 2018, beat Swiatek 6-4 in a one-set exhibition match played at the Iga Swiatek and Friends for Ukraine event.

After suffering a third round defeat at Wimbledon, Swiatek revealed her intention to host a charity event in Krakow and to give all the proceeds to Ukraine. Radwanska, a 2012 Wimbledon finalist, accepted Swiatek’s invitation when the 21-year-old asked her if she was willing to take part in Iga Swiatek and Friends for Ukraine.

Swiatek maybe didn’t beat Radwanska in a singles match but she and Martyn Pavelski beat Radwanska and Sergiy Stakhovsky in a mixed doubles match 6-4 10-12 1-0. Radwanska says Swiatek is the one that stands out In an interview with Eurosport, Radwanska offered her thoughts on the state of the women’s game.

“I think the top 10 is pretty open,” Radwanska told Eurosport. “I think there are a lot of players playing at the same level. I think Iga Swiatek and Ash Barty, before she retired, are the only two players that are playing very consistently, very powerfully.

Those two – that would be like [Novak] Djokovic and [Rafael] Nadal at the moment in men’s tennis.” Swiatek has had a stunning 2022 season as this year she has set the new record for the most consecutive wins in the 21st century in the women’s game (37).

“Ash, unfortunately, she has gone, so it is only Iga, and I think except Iga, everyone has the same chance. The level is very cool and that is why you can see a lot of different names, even different names not from the top 30 in the second week of a Grand Slam.

I think those kinds of years – everything is going to change. A lot of older players retired and now it is an open space,” Radwanska added.
