Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams reveals Serena Williams, Reilly Opelka and Grigor Dimitrov are the Tour colleagues she would invite for a dinner. In 2006, Williams launched EleVen, a women’s only clothing line.

Through the EleVen Instagram account, Williams held a Q&A session and one fan wanted to know the names of the players she would invite for a dinner. Williams then named the three players she is the closest to on the Tour.

“Serena Williams, Reilly Opelka, and Grigor Dimitrov. Sorry, just have to pick my best friends on tour,” Williams said.

Williams preparing for a comeback

Williams, 42, hasn’t played a singles match since last year’s August.

This week, Williams was confirmed for Washington and Toronto. The Citi Open in Washington kicks off on August 1 and that’s where Williams is expected to play her first singles tournament in 12 months. The week after Washington, Williams is expected to compete on the hard courts of Toronto.

Serena Williams was confirmed for Toronto last week, while the tournament organizers confirmed Venus Williams this week. “We are thrilled to have both Venus and Serena playing the National Bank Open presented by Rogers this year,” Toronto Tournament Director Karl Hale said in a statement.

“They have meant a great deal to our sport and having them at a tournament really puts a spark in everyone from the fans, tournament staff, and even the other players. They’re two of the greatest players in history and we look forward to hosting them in Toronto”.

Williams competed at this past Wimbledon but only in the mixed doubles event. After arriiving to Wimbledon, Williams got inspired as she and Jamie Murray asked for a mixed doubles wildcard. As expected, the Wimbledon organizers granted Williams and Murray a mixed doubles wildcard.

In their team debut, Williams and Murray reached the Wimbledon mixed doubles last-16 before losing to Alicia Barnett and Jonny O’Mara.
