It comes as the Reds manager has made a new addition to his backroom team ahead of the new season. And Liverpool have been left sweating on the fitness of two key players while on their pre-season tour of Asia.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Liverpool headlines.

Klopp explains Nunez fee

Jurgen Klopp has explained why Liverpool shelled out £85milion to bring in Darwin Nunez this summer.

The striker arrived to replace Sadio Mane, who has since joined Bayern Munich, in a staggering £85million transfer. After Paul Pogba joined Manchester United for £89million in 2016 Klopp said: “The day that this is football, I’m not in a job anymore.”

And now he admits that sentence has come back to bite him. The Reds boss has now admitted: “When you want to sign a striker as exciting as Darwin in, it’s the market and you have to pay the price. I’ve said so many things in my life and life caught me then later and showed me that my imagination was obviously not clear enough for how quick life can change.”

Frigyes Vanden Auweele has been appointed Liverpool’s new head of osteopathy.

The club are hoping the appointment can further reduce the number of injuries sustained within Jurgen Klopp’s squad ahead of what will be a very busy season, which will also include a winter World Cup in Qatar. Vanden Auweele previously worked with elite athletes across a range of professional sports, including football, volleyball and cycling and specialises in the treatment and prevention of sports injuries.

Reds in double injury scare

Liverpool have two major injury doubts as their pre-season tour of Asia continues.

The Reds kicked-off the tour with an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Manchester United in Thailand, and will face Crystal Palace in Singapore on Friday. But it appears Diogo Jota and Alisson will miss out with Injury.

Alisson picked up an injury in training, while Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has described Jota as “unlucky” after battling back from a previous injury only to pick up another knock in his first session back.
