Don’t try to come back and play over here again

There are many players who have decided to play at LIV Golf, and the biggest reason for that is the financial offer. They know that by participating in such a tournament, they will earn huge money with which they will provide for themselves and their families.

Even though they have been making a lot of money so far. Ian Poulter is one of those who will perform at the Scottish Open, and he believes that his decision (to perform at LIV Golf) will not affect his relationship with the players.

Rory McIlroy commented on players’ decisions to go to LIV Golf;
“I think at this stage, if you go over and play on a different tour, then go over and play on a different tour,” McIlroy said, as quoted by golfmonthly.

Rory believes that such players should not return, and that they should stay at LIV Golf. “You’re sort of basically leaving all your peers behind to go make more money, which is fine. But just go over there. Don’t try and come back and play over here again.

This whole having your cake and eating it type thing is what the resentment [stems from] within the membership.”

Ian Poulter on his decision

Ian Poulter believes that his decision should not affect his relationship with others.

“When you’ve played golf with these players for a very long time it’s strictly a business decision, it’s not a personal decision that needs to get in the way of friendships and I class pretty much everybody out here on Tour as a friend.

“I wouldn’t have appealed if I didn’t think it was the right thing to do. I don’t feel I have done anything different to how I’ve played golf over the last 24 years. I’m not going to sit back when I feel that it’s slightly unjust.”

The competition is huge at the moment. There are many ‘important’ names on the Tour, and each of them wants to get to the very end. An exciting tournament with interesting participants awaits us.
