Robin Roussel and Joël Stalter, in possession of a 16c category on the DP World Tour, will be at the start this Thursday in Kentucky of the Barbasol Championship, a PGA Tour tournament (3.7 million dollars in prize money) co- sanctioned with the European Tour.

The list goes on. After Julien Brun, Benjamin Hébert and Mike Lorenzo-Vera, all members of the DP World Tour, it is the turn of Robin Roussel and Joël Stalter to enter the field of the Barbasol Championship, a tournament co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
There will therefore be six French people at the start between July 7 and 10 in Kentucky if we add Paul Barjon, a full member of the PGA Tour but not having a sufficient category to participate in the Genesis Scottish Open scheduled for the same week at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.
Present at the Irish Open this week, Robin Roussel and Joël Stalter failed to make the cut. Recent winner of the French Professional Championship in the Médoc, Roussel has so far played 14 tournaments on the DP World Tour, only making the cut three times.
His best result is a 37th place at the Soudal Open on May 15. Almost identical results for Joël Stalter, the former student at Berkeley (California). In 12 starts in 2022 on the DP World Tour, the Lorrain only made the cut twice, taking 51st and 56th places respectively at the British Masters and the Dutch Open.
Note that Frédéric Lacroix, previously registered in the field, withdrew this Monday morning. The Barbasol Championship is a professional golf competition on the American PGA Tour. The competition has been played since 2015 and began to be arranged as an alternative competition to the British Open and is therefore played in mid-July.
The competition is sponsored by Barbasol and is played on the Grand National course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which is an area outside of Opelika, Alabama with a large collection of competition golf courses. The event is the first PGA Tour event ever held in Alabama.
Since the competition is an alternative competition with a weaker starting field, the winner will not receive as many FedEx points as other competitions on the PGA Tour, as well as fewer points in the world rankings. The winner is awarded 300 points for the FedEx Cup and 24 points in the world rankings (compared to other PGA Tour competitions that give at least 24 world ranking points and 500 FedEx Cup points).
However, the winner of the competition is given an invitation to the PGA Championship and Players Championship, as well as access to play the competitions on the PGA Tour for the next two seasons.
