2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska has revealed she is planning to play an invitational event with former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic. Radwanska, 33, retired after the 2018 season. On the other side, 37-year-old Jankovic called it a career in 2017.

Even though Radwanska and Jankovic haven’t seen each other in seven years, they have a good relationship. “But we’re good friends now,” Radwanska said on the BBC Radio 5 Live.

Radwanska on playing Iga Swiatek: I’m the bravest woman in Poland

World No. 1 Swiatek is organizing a charity event called “Iga Swiatek and Friends for Ukraine.”

Two matches will be played and in one match Radwanska will be taking on Swiatek in a one-set match. “I think I’m the bravest woman in Poland right now, playing Iga Swiatek,” Radwanska jokingly said.

On Saturday, Swiatek suffered her first loss since mid-February. After winning 37 consecutive matches, Swiatek suffered a shock loss to Alize Cornet in the Wimbledon third round.

Swiatek is a dominant force on hard and clay but admitted that grass is a surface which she has yet to figure out. Radwanska suggested that Swiatek is “saying no already before the match. It’s more in her head. But I think she will press the button in her head & play good tennis here in future years.”

Following a 6-4 6-2 loss to Cornet, Swiatek admitted she felt Wimbledon could be the place where she would lose. “Usually I am hard on myself,” Swiatek noted.

“Here, I know how I felt before matches, I know how I felt when I was practicing. Let’s just say that I didn’t feel like I’m in a best shape. So I’m kind of aware that this could happen. Maybe it’s not the right attitude to have, but it is like it is.

I tried many things to feel better on court, on grass court, but it didn’t really work out. That’s why I’m not even hard on myself because, like, it’s kind of logic that if I couldn’t find it even on practices, I’m not going to find it on a match.”
