German tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has tested positive for COVID-19 and is out of a WTA125 event in Contrexeville. Korpatsch, 27, last played at Wimbledon, where she suffered a three-set defeat to Heather Watson in the first round.

While at Wimbledon, Korpatsch stumbled upon Rafael Nadal and took a selfie with the Spaniard. The day after posting a selfie with Nadal on Instagram, Korpatsch announced a positive COVID test. “BAD NEWS‼️ Unfortunately I had to withdraw from my next tournament in Contrexeville the WTA 125.

I got tested Covid positive. Unfortunately with symptoms. I’ve had very high fever, sore throat and the worst headache like I’ve never had before. I will stay home in quarantine for the next days. I hope I’ll be better quickly and can get back on Court as soon as possible.

I will keep you updated,” Korpatsch wrote on Instagram.

Korpatsch cleared the air with Harmony Tan

On Tuesday, Tan saw edged out Serena Williams in a three-set thriller. Korpatsch and Tan were scheduled to play their doubles first round match on Wednesday but the Frenchwoman pulled out.

Korpatsch wasn’t happy and called out Tan. “I didn’t deserve that,” Korpatsch said on Wednesday. “She asked me before the tournament if we wanna play doubles and I said yes, I didn’t ask her, she asked me!

If you’re broken after a 3 [hour] match the day before, you can’t play professional. That’s my opinion.” However, hours later, Korpatsch deleted her initial Instagram post and revealed she cleared the air with Tan.

“She made me clear about her injury now and we already apologized to each other,” Korpatsch wrote. “As a fact I will delete my previous post regarding this situation. And I will ask not to write bad comments to her, don’t want that she gets insults!” Hopefully Korpatsch recovers soon from COVID and gets back to competing as soon as possible.
