British tennis player Liam Broady reveals he has made several positive changes in recent years as he has ditched nigths out and committed himself more to the game. At the age of 28, Broady has been playing the best tennis of his life and now he is set to compete at Wimbledon.

Earlier this year, Broady won three qualifying matches to qualify for his first Australian Open before losing to Nick Kyrgios in the first round. Shortly after the Australian Open, Broady rose to a career-high ranking of No.

116 in the world. Broady just narrowly missed out on making Wimbledon directly for the first time in his career but the Wimbledon organizers recognized the 28-year-old’s good season and awarded him a main draw wildcard into the tournament.

Broady: I used to go twice during a week

In the past, there were times when Broady would try to fully commit himself to the game but he would get extremely disappointed when the results just weren’t happening for him.

“There was a time a few years back, I’d be going out twice a week while playing Challengers and stuff, and I got it into my head that ‘this relaxes me, this takes the pressure off’ and you have a couple of good results and you think, ‘Oh, wow, this is great and I’m having a good time while I’m doing it as well’,” Broady told inews.co.uk.

“But it’s difficult because then sometimes you start to do the right things and, as we all know, the results don’t come straightaway. You start saying ‘well, this is rubbish, I’m sacrificing and nothing’s changing so I might as well be an idiot and just do what I want and see what happens’”.

Now, Broady has a good chance to start his Wimbledon campaign with a win as he faces qualifier Lukas Klein in the first round.
