By Ken Hissner: At the Arena Coliseo, Mexico City, Mexico Friday over DAZN Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) with Canelo Promotions presented in the Main Event WBA Super Light Flyweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi stopped WBA Light Flyweight champion Estaban Bermudez in a unified title fight in the eighth round having him a bloody mess.
In the Main Event WBA Super Light Flyweight champ Hiro Kyoguchi, 16-0 (11), #107 ¾, of Tokyo, Japan, stopped WBA Light Flyweight champion Estaban Bermudez, 14-4-2 (10), #107 ¾, of Nezahualcoyoti, Mexico, at 0:34 of the seventh round of a scheduled 12 action packed rounds.
In the second round Kyoguchi outworked Bermudez opening a cut with an uppercut on the nose. In the third round Kyoguchi had Bermudez cut on the hairline due to a clash of heads adding to cuts on the nose, under the left eyebrow and mouth. Referee Roberto Ramirez, Jr. brought in the ring physician with fifteen seconds remaining who allowed the fight to continue.
In the fourth and fifth rounds Bermudez came back well though bleeding quite a bit in a real slugfest. In the sixth round referee Ramirez took a point from Kyoguchi for head butting. In the seventh round referee Ramirez called in the ring physician while taking a point from Kyoguchi for hitting behind the head while Bermudez was slipping to the canvas.
In the eighth round Kyoguchi came storming out landing a dozen unanswered punches having Bermudez against the ropes causing referee Ramirez to wisely call a halt.
WBC International Silver Super Feather champion Jorge David Castaneda, 15-2 (11), #129 ¾, of Laredo, Texas, was stopped by Eduardo “Rocky Nino Artillero” Hernandez Perez, 32-1 (29), #129 ¾, of Mexico City, Mexico, at 1:35 of the first round of a scheduled 10 rounds.
In the first round a right uppercut from Perez on the chin followed by a pair of left hooks on the chin and down went Castaneda for an 8-count. Perez jumped all over Castaneda landing a flurry of five punches to the chin dropped Castaneda forcing the referee to wave the fight off.

Former WBA Bantam champion and WBA Female Super Bantam champion Mayerlin “La Monita” Rivas, 17-4-2 (11), #121 ¾, of Maracaibo VZ, stopped Karina “Labella” Fernandez, 17-7-1 (3), #121 ¾, of Ciudad, Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, after three rounds of a scheduled 10×2 rounds.
In the first round with a little of a minute left Fernandez walked into a wide right on the chin from Rivas being dropped for an 8-count from Referee Roberto Ramirez, Jr. Beating the count Fernandez managed to get through the round. In the second round a right from Rivas drew blood from the nose of Fernandez early in the round. In the third round with a minute remaining referee Ramirez brought in the ring physician to check the nose of Fernandez that was bleeding heavily with her face smeared with blood.
At the end of the round the corner of Fernandez called a halt.
21 year-old Super Middle Diego Pacheco, 15-0 (12), #168 ¼, of South Central L.A., CA, scored a first round knockdown and stopped Raul “El Principe” Ortega, 10-3 (7), #168, of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, after four rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds.
In the first round at the halfway point the 6:04” Pacheco landed three rights to the side of the head of Ortega dropping him for an 8-count by Referee Manuel Rivera Lopez. Ortega managed to get through the round and landed the final punch a left on the chin of Pacheco.
In the second round with a Ortega continued switching to southpaw and back to orthodox with a minute remaining Pacheco landed a solid right on the chin but Ortega countered with an overhand right rocking Pacheco. In the final ten seconds a right from Pacheco to the body dropped him on a delay reaction from Ortega for an 8-count by referee Lopez.
In the fourth round Pacheco hurt Ortega with a right to the body followed by a combination to the chin forcing him into a clinch. At the end of the round Ortega’s corner called a halt. Pacheco is now being trained by Jose Benavidez, Sr.
17 year-old Bantamweight Jesus “Panterita” Martinez, 1-0 (0), #118, of Del Rio, TX, scored a first round knockdown in defeating Daniel Nunez Gomez, 1-2 (0), #118, of Victoria de Durango, Durango, MEX, over 4 rounds.
Halfway through the first round Martinez landed a pair of rights to the chin of Gomez and down he went for an 8-count from Referee Javier Pena and managed to get through the round. In the final ten seconds of the second round Martinez landed a solid right on the chin of Gomez who did well to re-coup from the first round knockdown.
Martinez had made his amateur debut at age 6 in Mexico and now the No. 1 amateur in his weight class. Gomez has also had three MMA matches. In the fourth and final round it was Gomez on the offense backing up Martinez.
Scores were 40-35 twice and 39-36 as did this writer.
Super Featherweight Alexis “Picudito” Molina, 8-1-1 (5), #127 ¼, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX, was stopped by Jose Angel Garcia, 7-0-2 (6), #127 ¾, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX, after four rounds due to much swelling of the left eye of a scheduled 6 rounds.
At the end of the second round Garcia hurt Molina with a right uppercut to the chin. In the third round Garcia turning southpaw continued to get the best of Molina causing swelling under the eye of Molina. In the fourth round Garcia worked on the eye of Molina causing much more swelling close to closing the eye. Near the end of the round referee called in the ring physician who allowed it to go on. In the corner of Molina they called a halt.
