Belgian tennis star David Goffin has announced his withdrawal from the Libema Open in s’Hertogenbosch. Goffin, who last played at the French Open, sustained a left leg injury at the tournament and won’t be able to kick off his grass season at the Libema Open.
“I suffered a left leg injury during the last match at Roland Garros and have been unable to properly prepare for my first scheduled week on the grass. Despite looking forward to playing in s’Hertogenbosch, I have had to withdraw from the tournament.
I wish the Libema Open a great week of tennis and look forward to competing in 2023,” Goffin wrote on Instagram Story.

No fifth Libema Open appearance for Goffin in 2022
Goffin, 31, has played at the Libema Open four times.
Goffin debuted at the Libema Open in 2012, when he was beaten in the first round. After picking up back-to-back first round exits at the Libema Open in 2012 and 2013, Goffin reached the final at the tournament in 2015. In the final, Goffin suffered a straight-set defeat versus Nicolas Mahut.
Goffin’s last Libema Open appearance came in 2019, when he reached the quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Goffin enjoyed a positive clay season. At the start of the clay season in Marrakech, Goffin captured his first title of the season.
After making it all the way in Marrakech, Goffin reached the Monte Carlo round-of-16 before losing to eventual runner-up Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. In Belgrade, Goffin didn’t make it too far as he was beaten in the first round.
Goffin returned to winning in Madrid as he won two qualifying and two main draw matches before losing to Rafael Nadal in the round-of-16. In Rome, Goffin picked up a second round exit versus Jenson Brooksby. Goffin concluded his clay season at the French Open, where he made the third round before falling short in straight sets versus Hubert Hurkacz.
