Zane Pysher carding a score of 64-over-par

The difficult day of Zane Pysher. The question is, of course, “Who is Zane Pysher?” But we must proceed in order. The BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship is one of the most important amateur competitions in the United States, not only locally, but also nationally.

Organized by the Golf Association of Philadelphia, this year it will be held from 13 to 18 June on the courses of the Union League National Golf Club (only for the qualifying rounds) and of the Philadelphia Country Club (qualifying and final rounds).

Zane Pysher, story

We have already had the opportunity to talk about the Monday Qualifiers, which are held for the PGA Tour races. As this is a high level competition, qualifying events are also planned for the Philadelphia Amateur Championship.

One of them was held last weekend at the Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale. And here we get to the heart of the story. The race was won by Alex Seelig and Jack Wallace, who finished equal to par. The cut, which fell 5 strokes above par, guaranteed access to the Championship for 16 players.

But there is another player who has suddenly drawn attention to himself, distracting it from the winners. Zane Pysher, member of the Green Pond Country Club. As I anticipated, our friend Zane had a difficult day. He delivered a score with a total of 134 hits, 64 above par.

The Monday Q Twitter account followed the end of Pysher’s lap, recounting the most dramatic part of the day about him. He finished hole 17, a 474-yard par 4 from the Black Tees, in 18 strokes. Tee shot in the water. And so the next four shots from the area where he dropped (we are at 9).

Finally, the 10th shot overcomes the obstacle and, of course, ends up behind a tree. With the eleventh shot, Zane hits the tree in full, dodging so as not to be hit by his ball. Twelfth recovery shot and thirteenth (again) in the obstacle.

He drops 15 and finally arrives on the green. Where, of course, he closes with a flourish by making three putts. Eighteen. Zane hasn’t made any statements. I think it was better that way.
