Saudi Super League, request for recognition

The Saudi Super League and the Official World Golf Ranking LIV Golf Investments has announced that it has submitted the request for recognition for the eight events of the inaugural season of the Saudi Super League to the Official World Golf Ranking.

This would ensure that players taking part in the tournaments will have points from the ranking, in addition to the substantial portion of the prize pool of each event. What is certain is that the company led by Greg Norman is racing against time, given that the first event is set from 9 to 11 June at the Centurion Club.

Until now, the topic had not been at the center of LGI’s programs, except for the agreement concluded between the MENA Tour and the Asian Tour (supported by the Saudis).

The Saudi Super League, statements

Athul Kolsa, general manager of LGI, said: “We have already had several meetings with the OWGR team” “Two days ago there was a productive meeting where we talked about our field of players, the path we have imagined for them and how we intend to structure our events.”

“I don’t know if we will get the recognition for the first event, due to the technical time required to complete the procedure, but we are confident of being able to get it within the year” During the press conference, Greg Norman was keen to point out that 36 of the top 150 players in the world have applied to participate in the inaugural event, despite the lack of authorizations from the PGA Tour and the Dp World Tour.

Asked whether or not more players would request to join the League if World Rankig points were available, Kholsa added: “Of course, and we’ve already talked about it with the players” “We have shown them our request and its progress” “But the OWGR board is made up of the same people who threatened the players, right?” “It is interesting to note that everything is controlled by the same people in the world of golf …

we will see how it turns out” Already. We will see.
