OL recovered perfectly against Lorient on the 27th day of Ligue 1 (4-1) thanks in particular to a double from Romain Faivre.

After their defeat against Lille on the last day of Ligue 1, Peter Bosz’s OL were keen to get back on the lawn of Lorient, sixteenth in Ligue 1. For this match, the Dutch technician did without Dubois and above all without Ndombélé injured in the knee. Aouar and Caqueret were therefore aligned in midfield with Paqueta. For their part, the Merlus, who had to win to get away from the red zone, bet on an attacking duo Laurienté – Moffi to try to hurt a Lyon defense still without Boateng and Denayer.

But the start of the match was clearly in favor of OL who dominated and above all put their foot on the ball. And it is even logical that the band of Romain Faivre opened the scoring quickly in this match. The former Brestois, after a good combination between Dembélé and Paqueta, scored his first goal in his new colors with a precise strike from the left (6th). A first goal which gave even more confidence to the Lyonnais who made the break shortly before the half-hour mark. On a cross from Toko Ekambi, Moussa Dembélé cleverly regained the leather with a heel and deceived Dreyer (26th). In the euphoria, Paqueta did not pass far from third a few minutes later. Lorient, asphyxiated, managed to create his first chance before half-time, but Moffi missed his face-to-face in front of Lopes (42nd).

OL win with style

In the second half, Lorient came back with better intentions and therefore pushed to get back into the game. It took a vigilant Anthony Lopes not to see OL concede a goal. But Lorient’s intentions ended up being rewarded on the hour mark. On a corner well struck by Laurienté, it was Terem Moffi who took over with a header, alone at the far post (58th). A goal that totally revived the game. At least, that’s what the people of Lorient thought. But OL were not of this opinion since only a minute later, Toko Ekambi combined in the opposing area and, from a completely closed angle, scored his 7th goal of the season in Ligue 1 (59th).

With these two goals in advance, the Gones quietly managed the end of the game and even scored a fourth goal thanks to… Romain Faivre. The last Lyon recruit adjusted with a nice Dreyer lob for a double (78th). An ideal scenario that allowed Peter Bosz to launch Jeff-Reine Adelaide. The 24-year-old midfielder hadn’t played for over a year and his serious knee injury. The opportunity for him to find sensations in a rather quiet end of the match. OL ensured a precious victory, with manner, and returned to 6th place in the standings. Lorient can see its competitors in maintenance pass in front at the end of the day.
