Players and golf enthusiasts in Lagos and its environs are expected to witness the tee off of the maiden DSTV Premium Golf Day at the Ikeja Golf Course today.
According to the organisers, Flykite Productions, the event format is stroke play, which first prize is a business class ticket to Dubai for a weekend stay at a five-star hotel.
The second prize is a business class ticket to Rwanda for a weekend stay at a five-star hotel, while the third prize is a weekend stay at a five-star hotel in Lagos. The prize for the longest drive at the event is a 55-inch television set.
Apart from the three prizes, the organisers also announced that any golfer who plays a hole-in-one at the maiden DStv Premium Golf Day will be rewarded with N1million credit on their DStv Premium account.
The prize, named the Adewunmi Ogunsanya Hole-in-One Prize, is one of the big draws at the event.
About 100 golfers are expected to be in action at the event, the organisers said, adding that a total of 500 entries were received, with the number having to be trimmed in line with the requirements of COVID-19 safety protocols. Golfers drawn in the top 50 will also be hosted on a cocktail at the end of the event.
Speaking on the competition, Chief Costumer Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho, said the sponsorship of DStv Premium Golf Day is a demonstration of commitment to the sport, which is enjoyed by DStv Premium subscribers and brought to them via a dedicated channel that broadcasts some of the world’s most important golf tournaments.
