But the former Enyimba coach has promised a more composed display when they meet South Africa tomorrow.
Aigbogun attributes his wards’ laborious outing on Saturday to first match jitters, adding that with the opening game over, the boys will show what they can do in subsequent games.
Nigeria opened scores through Nazifi Yahaya’s header in the 55th minute, while Maxwell Effiom made the game safe for the Flying Eagles in the 70th minute.
Speaking at the end of the game, Aigbogun said, “We had a lot of trouble before getting the win.
“It was not an easy match because Burundi played well and we had a lot of trouble before we won.
“We have certainly beaten Burundi but recognize that our group is very strong.
“It is for us now to take the games one after the other without neglecting any team.”
Group A’s other game between Niger Republic and South Africa ended goalless, meaning that Nigeria will earn a spot in the semifinals of the competition and a ticket to this summer’s FIFA U20 Cup finals in Poland if they defeat South Africa tomorrow.
Niger Republic will play Burundi tomorrow, and then clash with Nigeria in what could be an explosive encounter at the Stade Seyni Kountche on Friday.
