Super Eagles star, Victor Moses is reckoned as the surprise player of the season by many following his exploits with English Premier League’s table toppers, Chelsea. Since the loss to Arsenal at the beginning of the season, Moses has been a regular in Antonio Conte’s side, playing in every game except when he was injured.

And even at that, Chelsea’s few hiccups in the league have been attributed partially to his injury-induced absence. However, statistics released by talksport.com yesterday has shown that he is also among the most substituted players this season.

Teams change players due to injuries, or a change of tactics and some players always seem to be taken off more than others. According to the figures by the website, Moses has been substituted 17 times, three times less than the most changed player, who is also regarded as the best player in the league this season, Eden Hazard.

Nacer Chadli of West Brom is second on the list as he has been substituted 18 times, while Moses, Wayne Routledge of Swansea, Dusan Tadic of Southampton and Chelsea’s Pedro are joint third.

Liverpool’s Phillipe Coutinho and Steven Defour of Burnley have been changed 16 times, just as Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Mark Albrighton of Leicester City, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas and Juan Mata of Manchester United have all been substituted 10 times.

Some of these players are among the most important stars in their clubs, especially Hazard and Moses, whose contributions have seen Chelsea running away with the title. Lallana, Coutinho (Liverpool) and Mata (Manchester United) are deeply involved in their teams’ race for the top four, which comes with Champions League spots.
