Presenter Adrian Chiles has called Peter Odemwingie to apologise for calling him a ‘t**t’ at West Bromwich’s awards evening after West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clark blasted the ITV presenter, a life- long Albion fan, who joked that the ‘tweet of the year’ award for Odemwingie should be renamed ‘t**t of the year.’

Five days after the awards dinner, Chiles rang Odemwingie up last Friday, but the Nigerian is understood to be unhappy with how long it took to make the apology and has reiterated to West Brom his desire to leave.

After launching a string of attacks on the club on social networking site Twitter, Odemwingie was fined two weeks’ wages. That followed another fine of two weeks’ wages for driving to Loftus Road at the end of the January transfer window in an attempt to force through a move to QPR. The total fines is said to be in the region of £150,000.

Last week there was a meeting between Odemwingie, PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, west Brom’s chief executive Mark Jenkings and technical director Richard Garlick at the club’s training and the situation is thought to have been resolved amicably. The issue of Chiles’ comment was also reviewed but the striker who has one year left in his contract, opined he thought the best solution at the moment was for both parties to go their separate ways.

The 31- year- old striker was involved in an altercation with a fan during West Brom’s 3-2 defeat to Wigan at the Hawthorns on Saturday. Peter was berated by a fan while he spoke with his wife, Sarah, who was with their four- month- old son sat in the West stand. While he warmed up in the touchline, he was also booed and branded ‘w****’ from a large section of the Albion supporters.

Odemwingie however, is not baffled by the incident given his obvious desire to leave West Brom, but finds the name calling unacceptable, especially with his family present.

Clark admitted after the game the crowd reaction prompted him to leave Odemwingie in the bench.
