“Nothing Will Make Me Leave PDP” – Governor Mutfwang Dismisses Rumoured Plan To Defect To APC

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has firmly denied claims that he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, Mutfwang dismissed the rumours, stressing that he remains committed to the PDP, the platform that brought him to power.

“There is no truth in the claims. I have never contemplated leaving the PDP, and nothing will ever make me abandon the party,” he said.

Speculations linking Governor Mutfwang to a defection to APC have been dismissed as baseless, despite recent moves by Delta’s Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom’s Umo Eno.

Reacting to media reports suggesting his defection was imminent, he said a friend had drawn his attention to them earlier in the day.

“A friend of mine sent me (the newspaper reports) this morning, and I said, ‘There is no prohibition on a hunter pursuing wild animals. I am sure they see something interesting in us, that is why they want us to join their party. Just as you read it in the newspaper, I also read it,’” Mutfwang stated.

The governor’s response is seen as a clear message of loyalty to the PDP amidst political tension and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Mutfwang’s stance also comes amid mounting calls from opposition figures urging PDP members to resist temptations to defect, as political coalitions begin to take shape nationwide.
