The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two individuals accused of diverting and unlawfully converting cement consignments across Anambra, Edo, Rivers, and Delta states.
In a statement released on Monday, the Anambra police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the suspects – Mmaduabuchi Udo and Abubakar Babangida – were arrested in Abuja on June 23.
Ikenga explained that the suspects operated through social media platforms, where they profiled cement dealers and extracted sensitive business information from their intended victims.

He further stated that the suspects used the obtained information to reroute cement shipments originally intended for legitimate businesses.
“The arrest followed an intelligence-led investigation, and the suspects have so far provided useful information to assist ongoing efforts to track down other members of the syndicate,” the statement reads.
The police spokesperson warned the public to be cautious about sharing business-related details online, particularly on social media, which he noted is increasingly being exploited by criminal networks.
Ikenga noted that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigations.
He also quoted the state commissioner of police as reaffirming the command’s dedication to protecting lives, property, and the economic interests of residents in Anambra.
He further urged residents to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency contact lines.
