“Ganduje’s Successor To Be APC Vice Chairman In Acting Role” – Bashir Ahmed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to appoint one of its national vice chairmen as acting National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje from the role.

Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, stepped down from his position on Friday, reportedly due to health reasons.

His resignation marks the end of a tenure filled with controversy and mounting internal criticism.

The National Working Committee (NWC) is now expected to announce which of the vice chairmen will temporarily take the helm of the ruling party.

According to Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, the acting chairman will serve until a new leader is elected at the party’s national convention in December 2025.

Ahmad stated, “The former National Chairman of our party would be succeeded in acting capacity by one of the party’s national vice chairmen until a substantive chairman is elected at the national convention scheduled for December 2025.”

The APC is under increasing pressure to stabilize its leadership ahead of strategic political realignments expected before the 2027 general elections.

Ganduje’s exit is already seen as a window for party restructuring and fresh influence battles among power blocs within the APC.

Political analysts believe the choice of acting chairman could shape the direction of internal party reforms and determine how unified the APC will appear ahead of its convention and national assignments.

While the party remains tight-lipped on the specifics, the coming days are expected to reveal not just Ganduje’s temporary replacement, but the strength and unity of the APC leadership moving forward.
