Tragedy struck Kano State on Saturday following a deadly bomb explosion that killed five people and injured 15 others at a scrap collection site located along the Eastern Bypass.
Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the explosion was caused by a military-grade explosive that detonated from a truck reportedly coming from Yobe State. The blast occurred shortly after the vehicle arrived at the scrap yard.
Speaking to newsmen, CP Bakori said, “It was a military EOD personnel. It was a military model bomb that exploded. 15 people were injured and taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.”

He explained that upon arrival at the scene, police officers witnessed the aftermath of the devastating blast.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, where five were confirmed dead while ten others are currently receiving treatment.
Bakori added that preliminary investigations revealed that the truck carrying the explosive originated from Yobe State.

“I was informed that the vehicle carrying the bomb was a truck from Yobe State,” he added.
