Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Marries Partner In Star-Studded Venice Ceremony

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, has officially married his longtime partner, Lauren Sanchez.

The wedding took place on Friday on San Giorgio Island in Venice, right across from the renowned Doge’s Palace.

Sanchez shared news of the glamorous event on Instagram, posting a romantic picture of the couple paired with a heart emoji.

The lavish wedding is said to have welcomed 250 prominent guests, among them Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Usher, Jewel, Tom Brady, and OpenAI founder Sam Altman.

Adding to the magical atmosphere, Matteo Bocelli—the son of renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli—delivered a heartfelt love song in a live performance dedicated to the couple.

The three-day celebration began on Thursday with a lavish party at the Madonna dell’Orto cloister and concluded on Saturday with an opulent reception held at a former shipyard complex.

Although the couple exchanged vows in Venice, it is still uncertain if a civil ceremony also took place there.

Though the celebration was extravagant, it sparked backlash from environmentalists and anti-tourism groups, who claimed Bezos was displaying excessive wealth and putting Venice’s vulnerable environment at risk for a private affair.

Local officials, however, embraced the occasion, with Veneto region president Luca Zaia estimating it would generate €34 million for the local economy, boosting tourism and supporting area businesses.

Bezos and Sanchez’s relationship first drew public attention in 2019, after leaked private messages revealed their romance while both were still married to their previous partners.

At that time, Bezos and his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Scott, publicly announced their divorce on social media, emphasising that the separation was amicable.

The couple shares four children, and as part of the divorce settlement, MacKenzie received over $35 billion.

Sanchez’s involvement with Bezos also led to the end of her 13-year marriage to her former husband, Patrick Whitesell.

She is a mother of three, with children from previous relationships.
