The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce has apprehended 84 individuals amid its ongoing enforcement and clean-up efforts in the Agege area.
On Friday, Tokunbo Wahab, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, shared this update on his official X account.
Wahab explained that the state Environmental Taskforce began the enforcement operation on Friday as part of initiatives to improve environmental cleanliness across the state.

He wrote, “The areas visited during the operation includes: railway corridor (Ojurin), Isale Oja, Oke koto, AP in Agege area, and other adjoining streets where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed.
“During the raid exercise, a total number of 84 suspects were arrested which comprises 82 males and two females. All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.”
Additionally, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director and CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, revealed that the Authority’s special enforcement team, along with the Ministry of Environment’s special squad, arrested several illegal street traders in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Lekki Phase 1.
“The team cleared illegal street traders and removed waste dumped at unauthorised locations—part of our ongoing effort to tackle environmental infractions, improve city cleanliness, and enforce existing sanitation laws. This action follows several warnings previously issued to offenders.
“All individuals apprehended have been handed over to the Environmental Task Force mobile court at Bolade, Oshodi for proper documentation and prosecution,” Gbadegesin said.
