Atiku’s Aide Tackles Festus Keyamo After Documents Showed He Has Multi-Million Naira House in US

Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has called on the National Assembly to publish the report of its investigation on the Special Works Programme executed by Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment. Shaibu’s demand comes after reports that Keyamo had purchased a house in the United States of America for over $300,000.

The N52bn Special Works Programme was launched by the Nigerian Federal Government to hire 774,000 individuals across the 774 Local Government Areas for three months to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Shaibu alleged that Keyamo was responsible for the dismissal of Nasiru Argungu, the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment, and that Keyamo claimed to be in charge of the N52bn project which was deemed a failure by the National Assembly.

Shaibu stated that the National Assembly raised concerns over the program, noting that many beneficiaries did not receive any compensation while others who did, did not complete any tasks. The National Assembly promised to launch an investigation into Keyamo’s management of the program.
