If I Win, Don’t Expect Me To Sit Down In Nigeria & Die When I Can Go For Treatment Abroad”-Atiku

During a recent interview on BBC News Pidgin, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), addressed the various rumors that have circulated over his health.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was quoted as saying, “Don’t expect me to sit down and die in Nigeria when I may go for treatment overseas if I become president,” referring to the hypothetical scenario in which he wins the election. He continued, “I will only consider the one that is cheaper between home and overseas. This is due to the fact that I am unable to bring medical equipment and staff from another country to Nigeria in order to cure myself and cannot afford to do so. I will look into the option that is most cost-effective for the nation.”

Speaking further, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar added, “Aside from a tendon rupture, I have never had any other kind of illness. I fell down a stairway and hurt my knee in 2006, which was also an election year like this one. It progressed to the point that it was classified as a “tendon rupture.””

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar continued by saying, “I traveled to Germany to treat the tendon rupture, and since then, the only treatment I go outside of Nigeria for is only medical checkups.”
