3 South-south Nigerian soups you should taste

One of the delicious soups that originated from the Efik and Ibibio tribes of southern Nigeria is Afang soup. Afang soup is prepared with afang leaves also known as okazi leaves. Okazi leaves is combined with waterleaves to prepare the soup. Other ingredients such as meat, dried fish and crayfish can also be used to prepare afang soup.

Just like afang soup, you can try to prepare edikang Ikong soup. Edikang Ikong is prepared like afang soup but the vegetables used for the preparation of this soup is fluted pumpkin leaves and waterleaves. Edikang Ikong soup can be served with solid foods such as pounded yam, fufu, gari and others.

Another delicious soup you should taste that originated from South south Nigeria is fisherman soup. This soup is normally prepared with seafoods such as fish, prawns, oysters, periwinkles, snails and others. You can use yam or cocoyam as thickener for the mouthwatering soup.
