Another PDP Presidential Candidate, Hayatu-Deen Backs Out From Race Over Indecent Monetization Of Contest

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has backed out from the race on Friday May 27, hours before the party’s primaries.

He continues as the second aspirant to have defected from the PDP after Peter Obi did so few days ago. Peter joined the Labour Party.

In his letter headlined ‘Why I am stepping down as a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party”, he narrated his judgement of stepping out from the contest. He claims it’s because of the contest’s gross monetisation.

His letter reads:

“I wish to reiterate that I did not join party politics and to contest for the presidency because of personal gains and inordinate ambition, but in order to serve our country.

“It is therefore based on personal principles and with great humility that I have decided after wide consultations to withdraw from this contest which has been obscenely monetized”
