Thousands of youths showed up to welcome the body of their friend and “son” as they prepared for his burial.

A video captured the final resting place of the 31-year-old teacher as mourners gathered at his home.

Albert’s grave was located between two banana trees and appeared deep enough to receive his coffin.

However, there were no notable decorations around or inside the grave, which sparked mixed reactions among netizens during the livestream.

The environment appeared clean and tidy, although the grave was not far from the open kitchen where cooking was ongoing.

There were other banana trees nearby, but they were fairly spaced and did not obstruct the grave.

The grave looked simple on the burial day, indicating there was nothing more to be done to it except to receive the deceased’s coffin.

What you need to know about Albert Ojwang’s funeral

On the burial day, a short-statured woman wept bitterly as she recounted a promise Albert had made to her—one that was never fulfilled due to his untimely death.

The coffin of the father of one, whose death sparked a nationwide outcry, was draped in the flag of English Premier League club Manchester United.

Several Kenyans expressed concern over the welfare of Albert’s family, particularly his father, Meshack, who barely had time to grieve due to the dramatic events leading up to the burial.

In Kwale county, Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) members knelt and lit candles, demanding justice for Albert, who had been a teacher in a remote area of Voi.

Meshack mourns son at Kisumu International Airport

In another emotional moment, a video showed Meshack weeping silently and alone in the back of a hearse.

The grieving father mourned his son inside the vehicle carrying his son’s remains ahead of the burial.

The body had arrived at Kisumu International Airport before being ferried home in a large convoy.

While other mourners surrounded the teacher’s coffin, Meshack sat quietly in the car as tears streamed down his cheeks.

Kenyans sympathized with him, noting that reality was sinking in—he was only hours away from lowering his son into the grave.

He also appeared exhausted after many stressful days following the brutal death of his son, whom he had looked up to.
