The victim, identified as Fellister Kitua, a tailor and mother of two, was attacked at her workplace.

Witnesses say the suspect, Augustine Neto, arrived and called her outside. The two reportedly argued before Neto suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed her four times in the chest.

The motive behind the argument remains unclear.

However, Citizen TV reported that Neto had been legally barred from contacting Fellister after she filed an assault report against him.

The restraining order was issued at the Makadara Law Courts following previous incidents of abuse.

Fellister’s family suspects that the attack was fueled by anger over the court order and her desire to end the relationship.

The deceased’s sister, Christine Kitua, revealed:

“They were separated, and even our mother intervened and advised they live separate lives. He used to beat her and sometimes threatened her with a knife, yet he could still sleep at her home.”

What happened before Fellister Kitua’s murder?

A neighbour and trader at Uhuru Market, Rose Kioko, described the moments before the attack:

“About two minutes before, he came and asked her to talk briefly before she returned to work. They spoke quietly behind a door where Fellister worked. The radio was on, and the machines were running, so no one could hear what they were saying. Then I heard the screams.”

Another witness, Abraham Otieno, said the suspect worked as a printer on the third floor of the same building.

Following the attack, members of the public apprehended Neto and were about to retaliate before the police intervened.

Neto was arrested and taken to Jogoo Road Police Station, where the case was registered. Fellister’s body was moved to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary.

Fellister’s employer, who described her as a diligent and trouble-free employee during her ten years of service, has called on the authorities to ensure justice is served swiftly.

Meanwhile, police detectives have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the stabbing.
