The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has called on the government to prioritise the welfare of healthcare workers, warning that continued neglect of doctors’ rights and hospital working conditions threatens the country’s health system.
In a statement to mark Labour Day released on Thursday, KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah said the union remains committed to advocating for better pay, safer working environments, and respect for medical professionals, who continue to operate under strained and often unsafe conditions across the country.
