Since the start of the 2023 Athletics season, Kenya and Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has been registering excellent performances running a world lead time of 9.84 seconds in 100m.Over the past weekend, Omanyala finished third behind Fred Kerley and Akani Simbine at the Rabat Diamond League meeting in Morocco.Omanyala is set to renew rivalry with these two athletes as well as Trayvon Bromell, Erriyon Knighton among others in the Diamond League meeting in Florence, Italy.Omanyala is keen to stamp authority over these world class athletes on Friday 2nd June 2023.
Latest updates indicate that the defending Olympics 100m champion Marcel Jacobs has withdrawn from the race due to a back injury.This comes barely a week after his withdrawal from Diamond League meeting in Rabat bringing his total withdrawals to 7 races in the past 12 months.His first withdrawal was back in 2022 from the Kipkeino Classic Continental Tour in Nairobi Kenya which was followed by a series of diamond league meet exits in Eugene, Rome, Oslo and Stockholm.
