The Toyota Isis has been a very common MPV on Kenyan roads. With its double tail lights , it is easy to tell from a distance.
The Isis first came into production in 2004 and carries an 1800cc Valve- matic 2ZR-FAE engine just like the Toyota wish. Being an MPV the Isis comes in a seven seater configuration and is roomier than the wish.
The Isis, just like the Passo, was designed to make passengers feel open and clean hence the boxy design that provides a load of headspace. With a maximum power of 158ps the Isis beats the wish which only has 138.

In 2017 the Toyota Isis was discontinued main reason being the name ‘ISIS ‘ which is similar to that of the Islamic terror group. Scores of people called out Toyota to change the name implying that Toyota named it that way due to the terror groups’ prominent use of Toyota trucks and SUV’s.
With Toyota being labelled as ‘pro-terrorist’ the Isis lost its market base and Toyota had no other option but to discontinue it.
The Isis which was discontinued alongside the Wish was replaced by the Toyota Sienta while the wish was replaced by the seven seater Prius hybrid.
Toyota argued out that they were defacing the Wish and Isis models to concentrate on a single competitor to other models. The same bold steps were taken when they renamed the Toyota Auris back to Corolla to provide a single competitor to models such as the Ford Fiesta.
