Kikuyu gospel musician Miriam wa Muthungu has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband Reverend Samuel Kimani.
Also known as Muthungu (white man) due to his skin complexion, Kimani was an ordained AIPCA church priest and was the minister in-charge of Githurai Parish, Thika Diocese.
The priest died in a tragic road accident on Saturday on his way to Gatundu town.
Muthungu was a close friend of popular Kameme FM presenter Muthee Kiengei wa Watoria who is also a priest in the AIPCA Kihiu Memorial church in Githunguri town.
Bishop Samuel Mburu of AIPCA Kandara said he was saddened by Muthungu’s death and recalled how close their were in their youthful days.
“It is with heavy heart to learn the sudden death of Rev Kimani (muthungu) of Gatundu Diocese. We came to know each other when we were still young boys when we were serving as acolytes (Altar boys). Muthungu was serving as acolyte of AIPCA MUKINYI Church and I was serving as acolyte of Kiaora church currently mirimaini church in Juja parish. I went through the right of passage before him and when it was his time ,I and Deacon Joseph Mburu Kangethe could visit him daily to take care of him..Since then we became good and great friends till his demise.This mornings I learnt of my friends demise which is unbelievable.. To my mum and my sister Mirriam muthungu, may God give you peace as you come to terms with the death of your beloved. REV MUTHUNGU R.I.P,” Bishop Mburu said.
