A furious storm is brewing in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Saboti MP Caleb Amisi now face an all-out ultimatum to vacate their positions, or face what elders from Trans Nzoia are dramatically calling “political fire.”
Kenyan News platform reports that speaking under the sacred fig tree of political morality in Kitale, a delegation of Trans Nzoia elders, clad in traditional regalia and oozing ancestral gravitas, did not mince words.
They summoned the full force of cultural outrage to demand the immediate resignation of Sifuna and Amisi over their blistering threats to exit ODM should party leader Raila Odinga align with President William Ruto in the 2027 General Elections.
“They have spat on the spirit of party loyalty. They must step aside today, not tomorrow, not next week, now!” declared Mzee Kibor ole Nyongesa, the council’s elder-in-chief, his walking stick pounding the podium like a gavel of judgment.
The elders accused the lawmakers of sowing discord, calling their remarks “political arson,” with the potential to dismantle party unity and inflame national tensions.
According to them, Sifuna and Amisi’s bold proclamations are nothing short of political heresy, and they must now be tested in the electoral wild without ODM’s machinery shielding them.
“If you’re men enough, resign and seek a fresh mandate. Let us see if your political muscles are real or padded with party privilege,” said one elder, his voice thunderous and face etched with defiance.
Sifuna, ODM’s Secretary General, has already doubled down, vowing to quit the party if it ever sides with Ruto, likening the potential alliance to crossing the political Rubicon.
Amisi, equally defiant, insists he’s ready to jump ship if ODM’s ideological spine continues to bend.
