According to a report by Tuko.News, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i is expected to take a different political path from figures like ODM leader Raila Odinga, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and President William Ruto as he eyes a role in the 2027 elections.
Rather than embracing the aggressive and confrontational style commonly seen in Kenyan politics, Matiang’i is projected to adopt a more composed and solution-oriented approach.
Having already expressed his presidential ambitions, Matiang’i has emphasized his readiness to tackle the country’s problems through constructive engagement rather than insults or ridicule of rivals.
“My goal is to seek solutions to the issues affecting our nation. That’s why you won’t hear me speak in a demeaning or scandalous tone. I believe negative energy is unproductive. We must focus on problem-solving,” Matiang’i said.
He further stressed that Kenya’s challenges stem not from a lack of funds, but from weak governance and poor leadership.
“Our problem isn’t money—it’s how we manage and lead. This country has capable people and enough resources. What we need is unity and a shared commitment to solving our issues, not attacking one another,” he added. On electoral participation, Matiang’i underlined that meaningful change hinges on active voter registration and participation, urging citizens to register in large numbers ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Without registering to vote, we cannot claim to be part of the change. Let’s prepare ourselves to vote and take part in shaping our country’s future,” he said.
His political strategy, the report concludes, is expected to stand apart from the confrontational style often associated with some opposition figures.
