Juja, Kiambu: The family of Harisson Wachira, the young man who was dragged on the ground after police shot him in the neck, is devastated over his death and is now demanding justice.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Wachira’s cousin, identified as Wanjiru Ngethe, said that they saw the clip of the young man being dragged on the ground and were horrified, just like other Kenyans.
At the time, they did not know that it was their kin who had faced such a cruel fate.
“His parents got a call from his girlfriend, who had waited for him to return home to no avail. She later went to check on him at the hospital, but didn’t find him either. She later found him at the General Kago Hospital mortuary in Thika,” said Wanjiru.
“Wachira was not even partcipating in the demos, he was at his garage in Juja when a stary bullet hit his neck and he died. We shall have the autopsy on Friday, July 25, 2025. All we want is justice, we neen people far and wide to klnow what happened to our relative and the inhumane way he was treated,” she added.
How did Kenyans feel about Wachira being dragged?

Wachira originally comes from Nyeri and had reportedly been killed by a stray bullet during the unrest.
At the time of the gruesome incident, the officers did not offer any medical help and instead treated the body like evidence while horrified witnesses filmed the unfair, chilling scene.
“It is sad that even the other protester trying to intervene was beaten and chased away, with other officers just following the cop dragging Wachira,” said Wanjira.
