Protesters Who Hid in Quickmart Zimmerman after Looting Arrested

What was anticipated to be a peaceful day of remembrance was marked with chaos, and many businesses across major towns remained closed while transport was paralysed.

The protests were infiltrated by thugs who destroyed property and looted open businesses.

Which Quickmart supermarket was looted?

Among the targeted establishments was the Quickmart supermarket branch in Zimmerman along Kamiti Road.

Looters vandalised and broke into the supermarket, making away with goods of unknown value.

Reports indicate that the looters took various items including foodstuffs and alcohol, leaving the establishment facing significant losses.

While some managed to escape, others were trapped inside after the automated doors locked.

Kasarani police arrest good infiltrating protests

Police officers responded to the scene, and the manager granted them access. The officers immediately apprehended those trapped inside the supermarket.

The police brought one of their trucks and parked it at the entrance, allowing the suspects to enter one by one as they were escorted out of the premises.

A large crowd gathered in the parking lot, keeping a safe distance to witness the arrests.

Some of the thugs also looted Khetias supermarket, also located along Kamiti Road, leaving the business with heavy losses.

Netizens react as police apprehend looters during Saba Saba protests

Some netizens praised the swift and decisive response of law enforcement, emphasising that criminal behaviour should not be tolerated even if it occurs during protest events.

Protesters loot Kirinyaga hotel

In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Saba Saba protests were marked by chaos in Kirinyaga, as youths disrupted normal operations in the town.

Suspected goons took advantage of the unrest and looted the Nice Digital City Hotel in Mwea, forcing police to intervene.

A video shared online captured officers struggling to contain the protesters and minimise damage, firing teargas to disperse the crowd who had blocked the hotel’s entrance.
