A Milimani court has ordered the arrest of social media influencer and Thika Town parliamentary hopeful Francis Gaitho. This comes after he skipped a court session related to his ongoing criminal case.
Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki approved the prosecution’s plea for the arrest warrant on July 30, 2025 pointing out Gaitho’s repeated failure to show up in court.
“The court allows the application. A warrant of arrest is hereby issued,” Magistrate Ondieki stated.
The court case, now delayed until July 14, 2025, comes from claims that Gaitho spread untrue information online.
Authorities arrested Gaitho in July 2024 during riots tied to the Gen Z protests. A key focus of the charges is a post he shared on July 15, 2024, on X (Twitter). In it, Gaitho accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of arresting the wrong person for the brutal Kware murders.
Police had arrested Collins Jumaisi, who reportedly admitted to the murders. But Jumaisi later escaped from Gigiri Police Station and is still on the run.
Prosecutors said Gaitho’s social media posts could mislead the public, disrupt police work, and put innocent lives at risk.
Authorities have charged Gaitho with a second offense accusing him of dragging an innocent person into the situation. Prosecutors argue he either understood or should have realized his post might harm the individual’s safety or ruin their reputation.
Gaitho earlier denied the charges and was allowed to go free after paying a Ksh30,000 cash bail. However, after skipping multiple court hearings legal action is being taken to force him to show up.
