After earlier reports appeared to exonorate the DCI officers who arrested Albert Ojwang from any wrongdoing, fresh findings have now linked OCS Samson Talaam to the driver of the DCI vehicle that fetched the slain teacher from Mawego police station, Homa Bay.
It has been established that the Subaru driver (also a DCI sleuth) who drove Mr Albert Ojwang together with other four DCI officers from Mawego police station in Homa Bay county to Central Police Station in Nairobi city was in constant communication with OCS Samson Talaam
It now appears that there was a continuous flow of information between the DCI driver, OCS Samson Talaam and Mr Eliud Lagat.
This chain flow of information has drawn the attention of detectives who have since filed a miscellaneous application seeking to have the telecommunication companies involved submit call data records linked to phone numbers of the suspects.
Farther investigations of the call data records will reveal if the communication between Talaam and the DCI driver on the day of Albert’s arrest was a coincidence or planned.
Earlier, PC James Mukwana alleged that his immediate boss OCS Samson Talaam appeared to have knowledge of Albert’s planned detention at Central Police Station before he was presented to the station for booking.
It is not yet clear who among; sergeant Sigei, sergeant Wesley Kirui, constable Kinyoni Dennis, constable Milton Mwanze and constable Boniface Rapido was the driver of DCI’s Subaru that ferried Albert to Nairobi.
According to reports from an insider, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority is treating all the seventeen ( 17 ) officers mentioned in the case as murder suspects.
After arraigning a number of officers and civilians before court this week, the police watchdog is expected to officially start charging suspects next.
