Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was conspicuously absent at Thika Green Golf Resort on Friday during the Murang’a County investment conference.

The conference was presided over by President William Ruto, and attended by senior officials, both from national and county governments.

Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru, Equity Bank Chief Executive Officer, Dr James Mwangi and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino are among those who were present. In fact they were hosted by Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kangata.

But Nyoro, a one-time key ally of President Ruto, gave the event a wide berth amid speculations about his political direction.

Nyoro was once a key ally of the President and was even seen as his future running mate, especially in 2027. But things suddenly changed when he was kicked out from the budget and appropriations commitee where he was serving as chairperson.

Since then, his relationship with Dr Ruto has never been rosy with the fiery legislator emerging as one of Kenya Kwanza government’s fiercest critics.

Amid all this, the UDA MP has remained cautious in his approach to the 2027 general election. He has been playing safe between the ruling outfit and the newly launched Democracy for Citizens Party, which is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
