Who was Amanda Mutheu?
“Amanda was a celebrity. She took part in skits with comedian Eric Omondi and acted with people like Willy Paul at such a young age. She was a very bright girl. I knew her. If she were here, she would be speaking fluent English—better than me—because she was very smart,” he said.
Ijono recalled the moment Amanda’s uncle threw her off the balcony, hurling painful words at the little girl.
He said the uncle shouted that he would meet Amanda on the cold concrete floor after pushing her.
“I heard him shout, ‘I am coming to meet you.’ He climbed down the wall like Spider-Man until he reached the ground. He approached helpless Amanda and held her by the legs. That was the moment I ran towards him and pushed him away,” Ijono recounted.
Amanda rushed to KU Hospital
Amanda was rushed to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRH) by neighbours for emergency treatment
However, her injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead hours later.
An autopsy revealed that Amanda died from blunt force trauma to the head, consistent with a fall from a significant height.
“At some point, he started calling Amanda a doll. He said he hadn’t thrown a child but a doll. When he threw her off the balcony, I could see he was no longer himself. Even when he threatened me, saying he was coming for me, I feared for my life. I knew he could kill me, too,” Ijono added.

“That’s why I don’t like to stay with relatives in my house.”
OndiekSimba:
“He was hallucinating; he must have been on drugs and alcohol. Alcohol alone doesn’t make someone act like that.”
lizfaith7618:
“Sending my prayers to her family. May the Lord comfort them.”
chapubejah373:
“That uncle should be hanged by the government. This is so painful… heartbreaking for parents like us. Relatives are the worst to live with in such cases.”
Everlyne888:
“Is this demonic? Alcohol? Mental illness? Or was the uncle jealous of the baby’s mother or the child herself? What is going on? Why did he call her a ‘doll’? Was this substance abuse? This man must be jailed for life—or even face the death penalty. This beautiful baby had such a brilliant future. Rest in peace, baby girl.”
