In his statement on Monday, June 9, Sudi said he was left speechless following the mysterious death of the young blogger, who had been arrested over an alleged false publication.

The Kapseret lawmaker shared his condolence message with Ojwang’s family, praying that God strengthens them during these difficult moments.

“As a parent, the news of the death of Albert Ojwang has left me speechless. I can’t imagine the pain his family is going through now. I offer my sincere condolences to Ojwang’s family and pray that God gives them strength,” Sudi said.

In his statement, Sudi emphasised that President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration does not condone extrajudicial killings.

The outspoken lawmaker stated that Ruto’s government has made significant strides toward ending extrajudicial killings since taking power in 2022.

However, Sudi claimed some elements in the government are determined to tarnish the image of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Sudi, a close ally of the president, called for swift and thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding Ojwang’s death.

“Security agencies must move fast and take appropriate action against culprits. This administration vowed to end mysterious killings and has made great steps, but it seems there are a few weak links taking us back,” he added.

Ojwang died in police custody just hours after being arrested from his rural home in Homa Bay County and booked at the Central Police Station in Nairobi for allegedly publishing false information on Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat.
