The former Deputy President has in a recent tour of the Kamba Land made a statement claiming that the people of Mt. Kenya region are cousins to the people in the Kamba region.
In his statement, while persuading the people of the region to vote against President William Ruto, the former DP insisted that the ‘kin’ relationship between the two communities mandates that they vote as a block to ensure President William Ruto is not reelected.
The former DP Rigathi Gachagua and the Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka have been leading the opposition in what experts have regarded as a move meant to mobilize Kenyans against the Ruto administration.
While reacting to the ‘Kikuyu Kamba cousins’ statement by the former DP, another vocal politician from the Mt. Kenya region has termed the sentiments as rather tribal.
The vocal Politician and former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambungu has stated that such a statement will now force the former DP, to categorize the other remaining tribes in terms of their connection to Mt. Kenya region.
The Jubilee Politician has gone further to state that a Government is not sought by kin relationships but rather by uniting all the communities in Kenya.
”Kambas are our cousins, How then will you categorize Luhyas, Kisiis, Somalis, Luos, and the 38 other tribes? How can we form the Government with cousins alone?” Questioned the vocal Mt. Kenya Politician.
