Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has renamed his political party to show respect and support for Kenya’s younger generation.
During a big rally held in Emali, Makueni County, on June 6, 2025, Kalonzo announced that Wiper will now be called the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF).
He said the name change is meant to recognize the powerful role young people—especially Generation Z—are playing in shaping Kenya’s future.
Kalonzo praised them for their courage during the 2024 protests against the Finance Bill, calling their actions a “revolution” that woke up the country.
“Wiper is now WPF in honour of Gen Z,” Kalonzo told the excited crowd. “Are you ready to join the new party?”
He encouraged young people to apply for their national ID cards so they can register to vote in the 2027 elections.
Kalonzo also promised to follow up on reports that some youths are struggling to get IDs, saying he will demand answers from the government.
“They are delaying your IDs? We will ask for a full report on how many young people got their IDs in the last two years,” he said.
The rally was also attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He supported Kalonzo’s message and urged young people to vote in 2027 if they want to see real change.
Gachagua made it clear that the opposition’s goal is to stop President William Ruto from winning a second term.
This rally showed that Gen Z is now a strong voice in Kenyan politics. Leaders like Kalonzo are starting to listen—and take action.
