The meeting came as pressure mounts on Raila to support a family member to take over the Kasipul parliamentary seat.
During the late MP’s funeral, several legislators, including Kipkelion West MP Hilary Kosgei, urged Raila to back one of Were’s children to complete the development agenda he had started.Kosgei, who is also the late MP’s brother-in-law, suggested that political motivations may have played a role in the tragic shooting.
Boyd Were has since expressed his interest in contesting the seat.
In a statement dated May 16, he declared, “Dear Kasipul Constituents, I humbly step forward to continue the development journey my father began. His vision for a better Kasipul remains alive in me.”
