Nakuru governor Susan Kihika yesterday had a moment when her tongue slipped and she mentioned the name Wamunyoro in her speech.

This was during the Madaraka day celebration that was held in the county, and she was giving out her address. She took the opportunity to lay bare some of the projects that she had initiated or was in the process of completing. And also those already done.

At that instance, the name Watoto training centre seems to have confused her, and she found herself mentioning the name Wamunyoro.

This was however received by cheers from the gathering, this highlighting the changing political tides in the region.

For context, Wamunyoro is the home to DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, the former deputy president whose impeachment was backed by many including Kihika.

Kihika herself remains a Ruto loyalist. By cheering at the mentioning of Wamunyoro, it is definitely a sign that cannot be ignored.

Wahome Thuku, a Othaya MP aspirant says that when she mentioned that she is still a Ruto supporter, the crowd shut up in disappointment.
